B+WISER holds alternative dispute resolution training with DENR and NCIP.

On April 21-24, DENR-USAID’s B+WISER trained 40 personnel of the DENR, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), and local government units from project sites on alternative dispute resolution. The training aims to help address conflicts such as boundary and resource use/land use conflicts affecting the ecological, social and economic conditions of protected areas (PAs).

B+WISER and US Forest Service help improve resilience of riverbank communities in Quinali "A" watershed.

Participants on the field learn various techniques in riverbank stabilization.

On April 10-17, DENR-USAID’s B+WISER with the U.S. Department of Agriculture Forest Service and the Natural Resources Conservation Service trained representatives from the DENR, local government units (LGUs) of the Province of Albay, and students of the Bicol University of Agriculture on various techniques for riverbank stabilization along the eroded riverbanks of Togbon River.

B+WISER and DENR join Earth Day Celebration in Negros.

About 100 DENR, Sanggunian Panglunsod and B+WISER staff, members of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Earth Day Convenors, students, trekkers, and media practitioners joined the kickoff of Earth Day on April 20 in Murcia for a Forest Forum and trek in Wasay trail of Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park.

B+WISER and the DENR joined more than 20 public and private agencies, organizations and corporations in celebrating the 45th anniversary of International Earth Day with a series of activities such as forest forum and trek, photo exhibit and press conference, running from April 20-26 in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental. With the global theme “It’s Our Turn to Lead”, DENR is leading the call for the protection of wildlife species from illegal wildlife trafficking and other threats in the Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park and Northern Negros Natural Park.
