On February 27 and 28, the DENR - Provincial Environment and Natural Resources (DENR-PENRO) of Negros Occidental and USAID’s Biodiversity and Watersheds Improved for Stronger Economy and Ecosystem Resilience (B+WISER) held a two-day workshop titled “How to tell a story through the lens." Some 30 information officers and staff of DENR in Negros Occidental participated in the photography workshop where they learned how to take photos in the field and during work-related activities by applying the basic rules and techniques of photography, photo composition and most importantly how to tell a story through the photos. After every workshop lesson, the participants took sample photographs and captioned them, which were then presented to the group for critiquing. The skills from the workshop will help participants communicate messages related to the environment more effectively using better photos. The participants work with local communities in the municipalities of Kabankalan, Cadiz, Calatrava and Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park and Northern Negros Natural Park.
