In view of the cross-cutting nature of forests and sustainable forest management, the Forest Management Bureau conducted a series of Consultation Workshops on the preparation of the Voluntary National Report to the United Nations Forum on Forests (UNFF). The workshops were divided into two batches: (1) for National Government Agencies and private organizations which was held on 17 September 2019 and (2) for DENR Offices and Attached Agencies held last 2-4 October 2019. The workshops are aimed to support elaboration of a comprehensive system for reporting progress towards the implementation of the United Nations Strategic Plan on Forests (UNSPF) and to gather various initiatives of private organizations, other National Government Agencies, and DENR Offices that contribute to the attainment of the six (6) Global Forest Goals outlined in the UNSPF.
The consultation workshops were attended by representatives from the Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), Bureau of Philippine Standards (DTI-BPS), Export Marketing Bureau (DTI-EMB), Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI), Chamber of Furniture Industries of the Philippines (CFIP), Energy Development Corporation (EDC), Forest Foundation Philippines (FFP), Non-Timber Forest Products-Exchange Programme (NTFP-EP).National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (NAMRIA), Biodiversity Management Bureau (BMB), Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Ecosystems Research Development Bureau (ERDB), and River Basin Control Office (RBCO).
Relevant initiatives and information gathered from the participants will be included in the Voluntary National Report of the Philippines which will be submitted to UNFF on November 15, 2019.
