In the line with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources’ (DENR) direction to integrate efforts in the enforcement of environmental laws, the Conference on Addressing Environmental Crimes in Visayas through an Integrated Enforcement of Environment and Natural Resources Laws is currently being held in Cebu City. Spearheaded by the DENR Region 7 and the Forest Management Bureau, the conference is a venue to discuss the issues and concerns of the field implementers in managing and protecting our environment and natural resources (ENR). It aims to not just map out ENR issues besetting Luzon but also develop an action plan to address the identified ENR issues. The presentations will include current enforcement status from the forestry, mining, environmental pollution, biodiversity and land sectors as well as enforcement actions from the National Bureau of Investigation. There will also be two workshops to identify ENR issues and to develop an interface between the field offices, starting from the CENROs, and the national level. The conference will be held until April 14 and attended by key officials from DENR Central Office, Bureaus, and Regional Offices in Visayas.
