Director Nonito M. Tamayo leads the Forest Management Bureau delegation in participating at the closing ceremonies of the National REDD+ System Philippines Project at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel, Ortigas Center on April 7, 2017. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB), and jointly implemented by the Department of the Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) through the FMB and DENR field offices in Bicol, Eastern Visayas and Davao Regions, and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. It was implemented in three project sites, Albay, Eastern Samar and Davao Oriental, from November 2012 to April 2017.
The closing ceremonies started with a welcome message by Dir. Tamayo followed by messages from Dr. Klaus Schmitt of GIZ, Mr. Andree Buhl of German Embassy in Manila and Ms. Barbara Schäfer of BMUB. El Gamma Penumbra Dance Theater gave an artistic presentation of the REDD+ Project and its achievements (also shown in the image below). A ceremonial turnover of the project outputs from Dr. Klaus Schmitt to FASPS Director Edwin G. Domingo, who also gave an acceptance speech in behalf of the DENR, followed. The results were also handed to representatives of the Climate Change Commission, the House of Representatives, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples, the National Economic and Development Authority, and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
