The Forest Management Bureau joined the celebration of the National Climate Change Consciousness Week held last November 19-25, 2020. In line with its theme “Adapting for a Sustainable Future”, the Bureau published a short video documentary, organized a roundtable discussion on climate change mitigation, and conducted an interactive online game.
The Bureau kicked off the celebration with the launching of the first episode of the video documentary entitled “KLIMA” last November 23, 2020, via the official YouTube channel and Facebook page of FMB. The 7-minute video features what climate change is and what human activities greatly contribute to it. Following the premiere of Klima was the conduct of the Roundtable Discussion on Climate Emergency Response: Opportunities on Climate Change Mitigation. It was held last November 24, where it brought together high-level government officials and stakeholders from the private sector to dialogue on the challenge of climate emergency and to talk about the current climate mitigation initiatives, policy responses, and opportunities for collaboration. This event was organized in partnership with Center for Conservation Innovations Philippines, Inc.
During this week, we also witnessed FMB's first-ever interactive online game on Facebook, the “Climate Action Bingo." In this game, participants showcased their accomplishments and efforts to lessen their carbon footprint during the pandemic by crossing them out on the Bingo cards we have provided them. Five (5) lucky winners were randomly selected from the pool of participants and were given the Lakbawayan Eating Adventure Set from The Bamboo Company. This was the third and final activity in the series of activities the Bureau has prepared for the National Climate Change Consciousness Week.
