Mandaluyong City — Regional Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) Coordinators together with the ASEAN-Republic of Korea Forest Cooperation (AFoCo) Technical Working Group gathered on a workshop to assess the current status of Community-Level Forest Management (CFM) planning process in the Philippines.
Titled “In-Country Workshop for the Review and Assessment of Current State of Domestic CFM Planning,” the workshop is expected to identify issues and concerns in terms of policy, regulations, process and technology that might facilitate or hinder the planning and implementation of CFM.
“Napakaimportante nitong ating programa [CFM], nitong ating ginagampanan,”said Ricardo Calderon, Director of Forest Management Bureau and Member of AFoCo Governing Council, who also emphasized the crucial role of CBFM Coordinators in dealing with the stakeholders.
“Ito [CFM] yung bagong ginagawa natin ngayon na kung saan we will not be leading the way but we will be walking with them [local communities] using technology,” he added.
By the end of the workshop, the participants will present their assessment of current state of CFM program in the Philippines and put forward recommendations towards enhancement of CFM planning process.
The workshop will run from 4 to 6 November 2015 at BSA Twin Towers in Ortigas Center, Mandaluyong City. —BMariano
