The Forest Management Bureau, with the support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO) through the UN-REDD Targeted Support, conducted a five-day training on Biomass Assessment and Statistical Analysis Using R Studio on January 16-20 2017 held at Hive Hotel and Convention Place, Quezon City. The training aims (1) to help the bureau in the process of harmonizing historical forest inventories, (2) provide an introduction to the R software using historical country data for the practice, and (3) to guide participants on a step-by-step approach to use historical data to estimate forest carbon stock for the country main forest types.

The participants include members of the Technical Working Group handling the National Forest Monitoring System (NFMS) and other climate change related matters and representatives from different divisions of FMB. The training was facilitated by Mr. Gael Sola of FAO Vietnam together with Mr. Mathieu van Rijn of FAO Cambodia.
