Unity in Command and Direction: An Integrated Enforcement of Environmental Laws

The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Field Operations – Mindanao, in collaboration with the Forest Management Bureau and DENR Region 11, is currently hosting the “Conference and Workshop Addressing Environmental Crimes in Mindanao through an Integrated Enforcement of Environment and Natural Resources Laws” at the Marco Polo Hotel, Davao City.

The three-day conference and workshop aims to integrate the enforcement of different environmental laws concerning forestry and biodiversity, mining and environmental pollution. It is participated by officials and staff of the regional, provincial, and community environment and natural resources offices in Regions 9 to 13.

Assistant Secretary Michelle Angelica Go opened the workshop by presenting the priorities of the President and new directions from Secretary Roy A. Cimatu. Resource persons from the FMB, Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Environmental Management Bureau, National Bureau of Investigation, and Philippine Economic Zone Authority will share their expertise in environmental laws and current programs and/or activities in enforcing it. The regional offices will then identify various apprehension and cases experienced in their respective regions. A joint action plan addressing overlapping concerns on illegal logging, mining and environmental pollution will be presented to Secretary Cimatu at the end of the workshop. xxx
