USAID-B+WISER supports “Save the Sierra Madre Day” celebrations

On September 26, USAID’s Biodiversity and Watersheds for Stronger Economy and Ecosystem Resilience (B+WISER) program, together with its local partners, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Provincial Government of Isabela, hosted this year’s “Save the Sierra Madre Day” celebrations in Ilagan, Isabela.More than 1,000 people from local government units, non-government organizations,Indigenous Peoples groups, and private individuals got together to plant more than 6,500 tree seedlings

PNP conducts advanced Environmental Crime Investigation Course to support LAWIN

The USAID-funded B+WISER Program partnered with the Philippine National Police School of Investigation and Detective Development, and the United States Department of the Interior- International Technical Assistance Program to develop and conduct an advanced environmental crime investigation course. Thirty-five police officers from across B+WISER’s seven program sites are currently undergoing a two-week training in Clarkfield, Pampanga.

Newly-appointed DENR Undersecretary for Field Operations graces LAWIN roll-out workshop in Region 8.

On September 14, Dr. Isabelo R. Montejo, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Undersecretary for Field Operations, welcomed the assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the jointly developed LAWIN Forest and Biodiversity Protection System when he addressed DENR forest rangers in Region 8 who participated in the LAWIN roll-out workshop held at the Visayas State University Campus in Baybay, Leyte.
