The DENR-FMB–FAO-GEF 6 Forest and Landscape Restoration (FLR) Project, in partnership with the Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB), is currently conducting the 3rd Batch of Training of Trainers (TOT) on the Application of Forest Restoration Manuals in Quezon City.
Following the successful conduct of the first and second regional batches in Regions III and XIII, respectively, this national-level training gathers representatives from all DENR Regional and Field Offices nationwide, along with participants from various national government agencies, the private sector, and academe. The five-day training serves as a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building in the application of science-based forest restoration manuals and guidelines developed by the Project through ERDB.
Similar to the first two trainings, this highlights several key resources: the Manual on Forest Restoration for Different Types of Forest Ecosystems in the Philippines, Manual on Rehabilitation of Mined-out Areas, Enhanced Guidelines on Forest Fire Management, and the Guidelines on the Establishment and Management of High-Value Conservation Forest Areas (HVCFAs).
These manuals were developed in the FLR Project’s two Landscapes, the Pantabangan-Carranglan Watershed Forest Reserve (PCWFR) and the Simulao Watershed in the middle Agusan River Basin, in collaboration and consultation with Local Government Units (LGUs), Community-Based Forest Management (CBFM) People’s Organizations (POs), Indigenous People’s Organizations (CADT holders), private sectors, and other civil society organizations.
This series of training constitutes a major deliverable under Component 1 of the DENR-FMB–FAO GEF 6 FLR Project. By expanding its scope from regional to national implementation, the Project continues to strengthen the capacity of DENR personnel and partners in advancing forest and landscape restoration efforts across the country, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the Philippines’ restoration initiatives.
