The Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the DENR Region 5, PENRO Camarines Norte and Forest Management Bureau in collaboration with the Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC) and Provincial Government of Camarines Norte successfully wrapped up the High Value Crop Insurance Program Caravan with the theme ‘Ani at Kita, Tiyakin!” in Daet, Camarines Norte today, 06 March 2025.
The High Value Crop Insurance Program aims to protect farmers, including forestry stakeholders, against losses arising from natural calamities, plant diseases and pest infestations of their high-value crops. The awarding of insurance policies was graced with the presence of Board Member of 1st District of Camarines Norte-Hon. Winifredo B. Oco, Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Officer Engr. Leopoldo Badiola, DENR Region 5 OIC Assistant Regional Director for Special Concerns Ms. Adona P. San Diego, Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office Camarines Norte-Technical Services Division Chief For. Edgardo I. Sapin, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation Vice President of the Corporate Business Affairs Group- Ms. Melba P. Manalo and PCIC Region V Regional Manager – Ms. Janice V. Obias.
Gcash, one of the partners of the PCIC in the online disbursement of indemnity payments for farmer beneficiaries, through its Funds Disbursement Service was also present in the event and assisted the PO members on how to avail and access the services of the application.
A total of 56 Community Based Forest Management Agreement (CBFMA) People’s Organization members from Camarines Norte awarded with insurance policies covering various high value crops, waived of premium fees, and an estimated number of 157 CBFM PO members was assisted by the PCIC with their HVC Insurance application.
