The Forest Management Bureau is currently conducting the National Forest and Landscape Restoration Conference with the theme, “FLR: A Whole Society Approach to a Greener, Sustainable, and Resilient Philippines” at Seda Vertis North, Quezon City. The conference will serve as an avenue to present the activities outlined in the updated National Action Plan and gain insights and commitments from different stakeholders for the effective implementation of the Action Plan.

To recall, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources through the Forest Management Bureau (DENR-FMB) developed the Philippine National Action Plan for the Forest and Landscape Restoration (PNAP-FLR) in 2016 and later expired in 2018. Realizing the innovative approaches in nature conservation and challenges on materializing the previous action plan, it was identified to recalibrate the country’s action plan basing on the lessons learned and aligning with international and national commitments such as Kunming- Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, United Nations Declaration of Ecosystems Restoration 2021-2030 and 2023-2030 Philippine Development Plan (PDP). From 2023 to present, various initiatives were made including the stocktaking activity, updating workshop, review meetings/ correspondences with relevant stakeholders, and validation workshop.

The National Conference is being attended by representatives from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (UN-FAO), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Landbank of the Philippines (LBP), University of the Philippines Los Banos (UPLB), Energy Development Corporation (EDC) and other National Government Agencies such as the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), Climate Change Commission (CCC), among others.
