The Forest Management Bureau (FMB) conducted the National Greening Program (NGP) Regional Coordinators’ Consultation Workshop from 9 to 11 February 2026 at Bayview Park Hotel, Ermita, Manila. The three-day consultation was attended by representatives from the DENR Central Office, DENR Regional Offices, and FMB, including Director Arturo E. Fadriquela, Assistant Director Atty. Ray Thomas F. Kabigting, and Officer-in-Charge of the Forest Resources Conservation Division Jhun B. Barit.

The consultation aimed to deliberate on key audit findings and recommendations from the Commission on Audit’s (COA) Comprehensive Compliance Audit, and dwell on the recommendations on how to address implementation lapses and further improve program implementation.

During the three-day workshop, participants discussed government accounting, procurement, and the NGP design framework in light of COA findings. Facilitated by the Reforestation and Forest Rehabilitation Section, breakout sessions addressed critical policies on official accountability, fees, forest restoration, and harvesting.

The workshop concluded by synthesizing key agreements and outlining a roadmap to refine reforestation policies and plantation management. These steps ensure the DENR’s response to COA findings is coherent and aligned with its core mandates of sustainable development, biodiversity conservation, and climate resilience.
