The Philippines participated in the 10th Regional Workshop on Timber Legality Assurance and Traceability (TLA-10), held in Surabaya, Indonesia, from December 1 to 4, 2025. This was in line with decisions from the 20th Meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Forest Management (AWG-FM) and the 28th Meeting of the ASEAN Working Group on Forest Products Development (AWG-FPD), endorsed by the 28th Meeting of the ASEAN Senior Officials on Forestry (ASOF).
During the sessions, ASEAN Member States shared updates on national and global regulatory developments, timber legality assurance efforts, and other initiatives to enhance timber trade. The TLA-10 workshop emphasized the need to strengthen regional cooperation, positioning ASEAN as a hub for better forest governance and a source of legal, sustainable timber products.
As part of the Philippines’ commitment to the Work Plan for Strengthening Forest Law Enforcement and Governance in ASEAN 2016-2025, the Forest Management Bureau’s continued involvement supported advancements in forestry trade agreements, aligning with ASEAN’s broader economic and social integration goals.
