The Forest Management Bureau, in partnership with My BusyBee (MBB), is conducting a Training on the Newly-developed Chainsaw Information System (CIS) on July 10 to 12, 2024 at Baguio City for the DENR Field Offices from Regions I, II, III, and Cordillera Administrative Region.

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) regulates the acquisition and use of chainsaws, including purchase, transfer of ownership, import, manufacture, distribution, sale, resale, possession, and operation. This regulation is pursuant to Republic Act (RA) No. 9175, also known as the Chainsaw Act of 2002, and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) found in DENR Administrative Order (DAO) 2003-24.

Therefore, to streamline chainsaw application processing, data storage, management, analysis, and to support policy formulation and management decision-making, a web-based system called the Chainsaw Information System (CIS) was developed.

It marks the second out of the four nationwide clusters and aims to familiarize DENR Field Offices with the Chainsaw Information System’s (CIS) features and functionalities, ultimately enhancing chainsaw registration, regulation, and monitoring within their jurisdictions.
