The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), through the Forest Management Bureau (FMB), is currently hosting a Training-Workshop on Forest Fire Management and Suppression from May 5-9, 2025. The event is taking place in Baguio City.

This event brings together selected DENR personnel focused on forest fire protection, alongside resource speakers from the Bureau of Fire Protection of the Cordillera Administrative Region. These experts are dedicated to the crucial task of protecting the country’s forests from the destructive impact of forest fires.

This training-workshop is designed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of forest fire prevention, detection, mitigation, management, and suppression measures during forest fires. It will cover essential topics including fire laws, rules and regulations, risk assessment, and the use of advanced tools like drones to monitor fire occurrences. Participants will also get to experience first-hand field demonstrations to apply the strategies discussed during the training-workshop to develop actionable Five-Year Regional Forest Fire Management Plans.

This initiative reflects DENR’s dedication to building capacity in the forestry sector, especially the local stakeholders. By encouraging collaboration and sharing best practices, we aim to strengthen forest fire management efforts across the different regions in the country.
