The Forest Management Bureau (FMB) held its annual workshop from January 29 to 31, 2025, in Cavite, Region IV-A, to prepare its Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 budget proposal, FY 2026-2028 forward estimates, and update its Forestry Sector Units of Work Measurement (UWM).

The workshop aimed to revise the sector’s strategic directions, resulting in a forestry roadmap that addresses current needs and challenges and aligns with the current administration’s directives. The roadmap focuses on improving the implementation of programs, projects, and activities related to forest resource management, conservation, and protection.

The roadmap focuses on improving the implementation of programs, projects and activities, particularly concerning forest resources management, conservation, and protection. Key initiatives highlighted include the Inventory of Structures, the High-Value Crop (HVC) Insurance Program, the approval of the policy on the Sustainable Forest Land Management Agreement (SFLMA), and enhanced data gathering for revenue collection reporting.

Moreover, the activity resulted in the draft budget proposal and forward estimates of the Bureau supporting the delivery of its mandates. The workshop also addressed operational issues and concerns related to field implementation of forestry activities, including updates to the Forestry Units of Work Measurement. The workshop successfully developed a roadmap and strategic direction for the FMB from 2026 to 2028, which is expected to significantly contribute to its operations and service to stakeholders.
