For the first time, the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO) holds a special training course on the application of geospatial technologies on project management in the province of Pampanga from 26 to 29 of July in New Clark City, Pampanga. For. Ricardo L. Calderon, the Executive Director of AFoCO, highlighted the importance of geospatial technologies in the project management.
All participants from the AFoCO member states were introduced to a series of lectures and exercises to understand the key concepts and apply this to their managed projects. Speakers from the DENR Forest Management Bureau and Forest Aviation Headquarters of the Republic of Korea (FAH-ROK) shared their knowledge on geospatial technologies like geographic information systems (GIS) using Quantum GIS, data collection using the Open Data Kit, and drones for large scale monitoring and mapping of projects. The training course also invited a resource person from the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) to cover the project management part.
