The City of Dreams (COD) hosted an event on environmental sustainability and invited the DENR-FMB last April 27, 2023. The event highlighted its efforts toward becoming a carbon-neutral and zero-waste resort by 2030. The Ugnayan E-Bike Charging Station for COD employees, the 3,120PV solar panel installation, the vermicomposting facility, and the herb garden on top of the hotel's parking building were all featured on the sustainability tour. Participants also took part in a repotting activity and dined at Haliya, COD's in-house restaurant featuring contemporary Filipino cuisine, to round out their luxurious green experience.
The use of renewable energy, elimination of single-use plastics, sourcing for locally produced products, use of 100% cage-free eggs, reduction in water consumption, and use of eco-friendly hotel amenities are all part of City of Dreams' "Above and Beyond" sustainable strategy, which promotes the concept of sustainable luxury. In light of this, the City of Dream Manila's Nobu Hotel, Nüwa Hotel, and Hyatt Regency Hotel recently received the ASEAN 2022-2024 Green Hotel Award.
Through its Forest Management Bureau, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources extends its support to initiatives aimed at achieving sustainability through reducing resource consumption, promoting the eco-friendly hospitality industry, and engaging local communities.
