The Forest Management Bureau, through the Forest Policy, Planning and Knowledge Management Division (FPPKMD), launched the Mobile Price Monitoring System (MPMS) on Forest Products on October 26, 2020 via Zoom application. The launching activity was attended by the representatives from the DENR Regional Offices, DENR Bureaus, Philippine Statistics Authority and Department of Trade and Industry. It is in line with the celebration of the 31st National Statistics Month this October which adopts the theme – “Bridging Digital Gaps: Making Information Available to All.”
The Bureau has developed the MPMS on Forest Products to improve the collection, consolidation and analysis of price data. It is an innovation of the system of monthly surveys being conducted by the DENR field offices pursuant to DAO 2000-55 or the Rules and Regulations Governing the Implementation of the Revised Price Monitoring System for Forest Products. MPMS will facilitate timely generation and accurate submission of relevant price data on forest products for evidence-based policy formulation, planning and decision-making.
Prior to its full implementation in 2021, FMB will be conducting a webinar series on MPMS in November to capacitate the DENR Field Offices on the use of the mobile and web application system components of the MPMS. With the development and implementation of MPMS, the DENR will be able to deliver a more effective and efficient public service through timely submission of reports, and more in-depth analysis of price data. Moreover, MPMS will ensure the safety of our field personnel and respondents especially during this time of pandemic.
