The Forest Management Bureau (FMB) is presently rolling out the newly developed Watershed Ecosystem Management Information System (WEMIS) to the DENR Regional Office Staff in the Mindanao Cluster (Regions IX, X, XI, XII & XIII) at Waterfront Davao Insular Hotel on May 23-26, 2023.
WEMIS is an online database that stores various information about the country’s watersheds, including socioeconomic data and biophysical characteristics. It aims to support policy development and decision-making.
The general objective of this activity is to implement the newly developed information system in DENR field offices. Specifically, it aims to: 1) introduce the newly developed WEMIS and understand its application to watershed management; 2) train field officers on the system's functionalities, structure, and data requirements; 3) provide a venue for identifying and resolving system-related issues as they arise; and 4) develop procedures and protocols for the nationwide implementation of WEMIS.
