In line with the celebration of the 35th DENR Anniversary and Family Day last June 2022 and to improve the health and well-being of employees, the Forest Management Bureau conducted the “Palarong Pinoy” last June 28-29, 2022. With the success of the said event, FMB Director Tirso P. Parian, Jr. made the event a monthly activity to promote teamwork and mental wellness among employees pursuant to Civil Service Commission Memorandum Circular No. 4, s. 2020 on Establishment of a Mental Health Program in the Public Sector. This activity was known as “Wellness Day”. The Bureau began conducting the activity every last Friday of the month beginning July.
In the conduct of the event, each Division within FMB were assigned to take charge in the preparation for the monthly wellness day activity and to engage in a friendly competition to acquire corresponding points. For July, the Forestland Management Project (FMP) together with the Integrated Natural Resources and Environmental Management Project (INREMP) facilitated the activity with For. Marlon Atienza as the team manager. Employees played four (4) games during the activity including (1) Pinoy Henyo; (2) Sipa; (3) Tug of War; and (4) Quail Egg Relay. Based on the overall acquired points, first place for the July Wellness Day was awarded to Forest Resources Management Division (FRMD) and Forest Resources Conservation Division (FRCD), both acquiring 21 points. For the August Wellness Day, FRMD with For. Ildefonso Quilloy as team manager facilitated the games which include (1) T-shirt Relay; (2) Sack Race; (3) Pop the Balloon (with a twist); (4) Dugtong-Dugtong; and (5) Bring Me to Life. Among the teams, the Division that obtained the highest score and was declared as champion is the Office of the Director (OD) with 40 points.
Forest Management Bureau is yet to conduct the September, October and November Wellness Day for 2022. After the conduct of the Wellness Day for the remaining three (3) months, the overall champion shall be announced on December during the celebration of the Bureau’s Christmas Party.
