ONLINE LAWIN REGIONAL DATA MANAGERS’ CONFERENCE FOR THE REVIEW AND RECONFIGURATION OF THE LAWIN DASHBOARDS, DATA MODEL AND AUTO-GENERATED REPORTS

The Lawin Unit of the Forest Management Bureau, together with representatives from USAID-SIBOL, conducted an “Online Lawin Regional Data Managers’ Conference for the Review and Reconfiguration of the Lawin Dashboards, Data Model and Auto-Generated Reports” from 21 March 2024 to 22 March 2024.

The Lawin Forest and Biodiversity Protection System is the national strategy for forest protection that uses technological advancements in the recording of information and analysis of patrol data from the field offices. Through the years of implementation, the Lawin system has accumulated numerous patrol information that has caused frequent server slowdowns and downtimes. This has affected the implementation of the Lawin system particularly on uploading of data, synchronization, and data analysis. As such, the need for upgrading the SMART 6.1 currently used in the Lawin system to the newer SMART 7.5.6 has become essential for the improvement of Lawin system implementation.

This online conference aims to discuss the current Lawin dashboards, data model, auto-generated reports and to gather recommendations from the DENR regional offices on which features are most useful to include in the upgrading of Lawin SMART.
