
The Philippines, as part of its commitment to the International Timber Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), attended the 59th Session of the International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) and Associated Sessions of the Committees on 15-17 November 2023 in Pattaya, Thailand.
The International Tropical Timber Council (ITTC) is the governing body of the ITTO. The Council, which meets annually, is supported by four committees, which are open to all members and which provide advice and assistance to the Council on issues for consideration and decision on: Economics, Statistics and Markets (CEM); Reforestation and Forest Management (CRF); Forest Industry (CFI); and Finance and Administration (CFA). The Philippines belongs to the producer group of countries, along with other developing member countries of the ITTO.
During the Sessions of the ITTC59 and Associated Committees, decisions were made on matters related to ITTO projects, pre-projects, and activities; ITTO’s administrative budget for the 2024 and 2025 Financial Biennium, ITTO Biennial Work Programme for the Years 2024-2025; Management of the Administrative Budget; and Proposed Extension of the 2006 International Tropical Timber Agreement until 06 December 2029.
